A Little Night Music

Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music is a celebrated musical that centers on complex relationships. The aging actress Désirée Armfeldt rekindles a romance with her former lover, a married lawyer. The ensuing jealousy draws in a comic dragoon, his cynical wife, and the lawyer's young, naive bride. The characters eventually gather at an Armfeldt estate for an eventful "weekend in the country," where they undergo a series of realizations about their true desires before ultimately finding their proper partners.

Sondheim’s revolutionary score beautifully mirrors the pacing of the characters' romantic pursuits and is highly notable for featuring the haunting, universally recognized classic song, “Send in the Clowns.”
